Decades of work in Gregory Gardens and Poets Corner. Postwar homes with original 1950s–60s flatwork are our most common call here.
Pleasant Hill is full of exactly the kind of house we have spent thirty-five years rebuilding the outside of: postwar and mid-century single-story homes on flat to gently rolling lots, with original concrete that has outlived its design life. Gregory Gardens, Poets Corner and Sherman Acres were largely built in the 1950s and 60s, and the driveways, front walks and back patios from that era were poured thin, without steel, and directly on native soil. They crack, they settle, and by now most have been patched at least once.
That is the work we do most here: tear out the tired slab, cut the subgrade to the right depth, compact real base rock, reinforce properly, and repour at a thickness that will not move — finished as broom, exposed aggregate, or stamped and colored if you want the patio to look like stone. Because Pleasant Hill lots are mostly flat, drainage problems here are less about hillside runoff and more about yards that have no fall at all: water pooling ten feet off the slab, planter beds draining toward the house, and downspouts dumping into lawn. Regrading, area drains, catch basins and French drains piped to the street solve more Pleasant Hill complaints than any other single item we install.
Beyond concrete, Pleasant Hill homeowners hire us for synthetic turf in small back yards where lawn never quite succeeded, paver walkways and patio extensions, low seat-height retaining walls and planters to organize a flat yard into rooms, fencing, fire pits and built-in BBQs, and the occasional backyard putting green. Compact lots reward careful layout, so we spend the design conversation on circulation and proportion, not just materials.
Every Pleasant Hill job gets full crew days and quick follow-up. Call us and we will come look, tell you honestly whether the slab needs replacing or just repair, and put it in writing at no charge.

What homeowners here ask us most before we break ground.
If the cracking is isolated and the slab is still at grade, a repair can buy years. If it is a thin 1950s pour that has settled or cracked in multiple directions, replacement over compacted base is the only fix that lasts. We tell you which one you have.
Yes. On flat Pleasant Hill lots we create fall where there is none — regrading, catch basins and area drains tied to a solid line that carries water to the curb or an approved discharge point.
Often it is the best value on a small yard: no mowing, no irrigation, and it stays green in a space too shaded or too trafficked for real lawn to survive. We build it over a drained base with pet-safe infill when dogs are involved.
Site visits are typically same-week and scheduling is flexible — Pleasant Hill is one of our most frequent service cities. Ken will give you a realistic start window at the walkthrough rather than an optimistic one.
