Service · Demolition

Demo & haul-away, done in a day.

Concrete driveways, patios, walkways, and old hardscape — broken out cleanly with skid-steer hydraulic breakers and trucked off your property the same week.

Concrete and hardscape demolition site cleared by A·K Landscaping & Concrete in Contra Costa County

Before we pour anything new, the old slab has to go. We bring the right machine for the job — skid-steers with hydraulic breakers — so tear-outs are fast, controlled, and easy on your landscaping and fences.

What's included
  • Concrete driveway & patio removal
  • Walkway, slab, & footing demo
  • Skid-steer hydraulic breaker
  • Site protection for fences & plants
  • Full debris haul-away
  • Subgrade prep for the next pour

Clean tear-outs, ready to rebuild.

Most demo jobs wrap in a single day. We protect what stays — fences, irrigation, and mature plantings — break out what's leaving, and load it straight into the truck so your yard is ready for the next phase.

  • Tight-access skid-steer for side yards
  • Cuts to clean lines where slabs stay
  • Recycled concrete disposal when possible
  • Coordinated with the new concrete pour

What we demo

Concrete driveways, walkways, patios, pool decks, footings, retaining walls, brick and paver hardscape, old fencing, decks, sheds, planter boxes, and overgrown landscape — basically anything between you and the new project. We handle everything from a single 200 sq ft side-yard slab in a Walnut Creek bungalow to full driveway-and-patio tear-outs on larger Alamo and Danville properties.

  • Concrete driveways, walkways, and patios
  • Pool decks, footings, and old slab foundations
  • Brick, paver, and stone hardscape removal
  • Retaining wall demolition
  • Deck, fence, and shed tear-down
  • Landscape and shrub clearing for new builds

Equipment matched to access

We bring the right machine for the lot — full-size skid-steers with hydraulic breakers for open backyards, narrow track loaders that fit through a 36-inch gate, and hand-breaking with electric jackhammers where machine access is impossible. The right equipment is what lets us finish in a day what some crews drag out over a week.

  • Track and wheeled skid-steers with hydraulic breakers
  • Narrow-access machines for tight side yards
  • Concrete saws for clean cuts at slab edges
  • Electric jackhammers for hand-only sections
  • Roll-off and dump-truck haul-off

Site protection

Demo is messy by nature — our job is to keep the mess limited to what's leaving. We protect fences with plywood, lay down ground protection mats over lawn and pavers we're keeping, tape off irrigation valves and electrical, and cover pools and AC units with tarps. The yard you have at the end of demo day should be the yard you expected.

  • Plywood protection on fences and gates
  • Ground mats over lawns, pavers, and patios that stay
  • Tarps over pools, ACs, and outdoor furniture
  • Tape and flag irrigation, low-voltage, and gas lines
  • Daily cleanup — never leave debris on the property overnight

Disposal & recycling

Whenever possible we haul broken concrete to a local recycler in Martinez or Richmond where it's crushed and reused as base rock — keeping waste out of landfills and lowering disposal cost. Mixed debris goes to the appropriate transfer station with all tickets retained, so you have documentation if your project requires it.

  • Concrete recycled at local processing facilities
  • Mixed debris hauled to permitted transfer stations
  • Disposal tickets retained for permitted projects
  • No on-property dumpsters left for days
Our process

In and out, clean.

  1. 01

    Site visit & quote

We walk the area to be removed, measure access width and slope, identify what needs to be protected, and provide a written quote with timeline and disposal plan.

  2. 02

    Utility locates & protection

We call USA for underground utility locates and set up site protection — plywood on fences, mats on lawns, tarps where needed — before any machine turns on.

  3. 03

    Cut, break & load

Where adjoining concrete stays, we saw-cut clean edges first. Then the skid-steer breaks, scoops, and loads directly into the truck — minimizing how long debris sits on your property.

  4. 04

    Subgrade prep & haul-off

Once everything is out, we grade the subgrade roughly for the next phase and haul the final load to the transfer station or recycler.

  5. 05

    Site cleanup

We sweep adjacent hardscape, hose down dust, remove protection materials, and leave the site ready for the next trade — usually our own concrete or paver crew arriving the same week.
